A Week at the Farm Market Day 5: Thursday

ThursdayThursday is my veggie market day.

I begin Thursdays by picking as many flowers as I know I’ll be able to strip before leaving for market (assuming enough have bloomed since Wednesday’s market). Thursday is the Cheshire Market, which is the market I can bring veggies to as well. If it’s early in the season, I check the fruit trees when I go out to feed the animals too.

A few minutes before leaving time I once again load the melt-ables, flowers, and veggies. The trick is putting the cooler in at just the right angle so it fits well into my tiny car. If it’s during autumn, I have long stalks of broom corn and an old milk can to add to the puzzle as well.

After I get setup at Cheshire, I put bouquets together from the flowers I picked that morning. Thursday Snack time is conveniently supplied by the daily soup served in the gas station behind the farm market. The Broccoli and cheese is my favorite.

Cheshire ends a little earlier than Victor and it’s a little closer to home, so I get home a bit earlier. I unload the car, including the tent this time because I won’t be needing it for the Saturday market. Then it’s time to dump all the tarps from Tuesday night. The cows are once again very happy critters. If it’s still light out, I wash out and fill the flower buckets and vases for the next day. If it’s already dark, I do it by flashlight, and have fun watching how the light beam shines through the sides of the bucket like a lantern (yes, I’m easily amused).
