My Crafting Story
Crafting Tutorials

Crafting has always been a big part of my life. Creativity was something that was very much encouraged in my family, so my siblings and I spent a lot of our spare time doing craft projects. From the time we were very little, my sister and I were always making holiday decorations from whatever materials we had available.

Gourds and wreath making items were easily found in plenty on our farm and the surrounding woodlands, so they provided us with some of our first crafting experiences. As time progressed, I discovered the joys of candles and soap making as well. Eventually I began selling the items I made on family farm stands and at local craft shows.

The craft shows never really panned out for me, however. Since my creations were generally made of all natural, eco-friendly materials, they didn’t have the bright colored “pop” that items made with artificial materials did. As I was unwilling to forego my effort to be eco-friendly in my work, I searched for another outlet for my work.

Eventually I turned to the local farm markets. My naturally produced items were more welcomed by people in the farm market atmosphere. And the markets were also an outlet for my flower bouquets and farm produce. The perfect mix.

I created my online store to supplement farm market sales, and found that many people were also interested in learning my crafting techniques. So I began sharing my methods by writing crafting tutorials on my blog, and more recently as how-to videos. I hope that all my fellow do-it-yourselfers will find something here to help you spur your creative side.
