Flash Costume Part 1: DIY Flash Costume Shirt & Emblem

This DIY Flash costume is based on the CW version, since I’m not really a fan of the Justice League version that I’ve seen in the movie trailers so far.

DIY Flash Costume

I guess I just kinda feel that the Justice League movie version looks too much like Iron Man and not enough like classic Flash. But anyway, I had several requests for a DIY Flash costume and it was also my cousin’s Halloween costume this year, so here’s the tutorial for the first part, the shirt and the emblem.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
Small pieces of 3mm craft foam
Gold foil fabric
Red long-sleeved shirt
1 yard of red vinyl (You may or less need more depending on your size)
About 10 inches of fake black leather
10 feet of thin, gold cording
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Sticky backed velcro
1 separating zipper long enough to span the height of your red shirt
Scissors
Hot glue gun

The craft foam, sticky backed velcro, zipper, gold foil fabric, gold cording, red vinyl, and fake black leather I used on this DIY Flash costume can all be found at JoAnn Fabrics. The red shirt I picked up for $4 at the local Salvation Army. (Also, don’t mind the marks on my arms here; I started filming this costume during the summer, and I had been burned by wild parsnip again at that point).
