How To Use A Sewing Machine (Old Nelco Model)
In this tutorial I’ll show you the basics of operating a personal Nelco sewing machine.
I’ve had a few people who have old Nelco machines ask if I could do a Nelco sewing machine tutorial. They don’t make Nelcos for home use anymore (I think they’re strictly commercial sewing now), and that makes the manuals hard to come by these days. So I put together this little tutorial in hopes of helping those Nelco owners who aren’t quite sure how to run their old machines.
This tutorial is admittedly rather long (and therefore probably a bit boring as well), but basically it’s the whole manual for the Nelco machines in one tutorial. This is also a video that I filmed mostly live (I didn’t voice over afterward) so the sound quality is kind of up and down, since my camera’s microphone isn’t very good. But hopefully it gets the instruction across.
If you have any questions about it, or if there’s a part of the machine’s operation I didn’t cover, feel free to leave your question below and I’ll get back to you.

Can you show how to change a belt on the machine.
I’ve never had to change any belts on mine yet, so I’m not sure how to do that at this point. But if I end up having to change the belt on mine, I’ll make sure to show it.
