The Benefits of Having an Ambiguous Face

One question I get asked more than any other on my Youtube channel is whether I’m a boy or a girl, or transgender.

The Benefits of Having an Ambiguous Face

Since I cosplay both male and female characters, some people have found it a little confusing. As such, I’m often asked about my gender. I know some people might be offended by such a question, but I’m pretty easygoing. I have no trouble admitting that I do have an “ambiguous face”. While some people might see this is as a drawback, I see it as a positive.

As a cosplayer, I dress up as both male and female characters. I’m not really into genderbending myself (though I’ve seen a lot of cosplayers who are just wonderful at it). But for me personally, I feel more like the character if I’m playing it in the same gender as the character. So if I’m cosplaying Captain Kirk, I want to do male Captain Kirk, etc. This is where having an ambiguous face comes in handy.

A lot of female cosplayers have to put on a lot of makeup and bind their chests and such to pass as male characters. I’m lucky enough with my face, that all I have to do is pretty much change my wig to make myself look more feminine or more masculine. So it’s a great asset to have when cosplaying.

So I did a little video answering my most frequently asked question. And why I’m more than happy to take advantage of my face’s ambiguity.
