In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a simple little sink for situations when running water isn’t an option.

MATERIALS USED:
A small cupboard
A few feet worth of scrap pieces of wood
A square board big enough to hold your water reservoir
Wood glue
Power-tac glue or other strong glue
A water reservoir with a tap (you can find these almost anywhere, stainless steel, glass, etc.)
2 plastic bowls
Star Wars decals…optional

This makes a great little workshop sink. I use it for washing paint brushes and similar tasks in my studio, but you could also use it as a vanlife or camping sink for hand washing or easily dispensing drinking water.

I used an old, plastic Estee Lauder cabinet, because it was free, and the wheels make it very convenient to push around my studio, but a wood cupboard would probably be a bit more stable. If you head for your local Salvation Army, you can usually find small cupboards for around $10.

The cupboard base gives you good height for a sink, as well as additional storage for soaps or towels. And the double bowl keeps things from moving, but allows you to easily remove one to dispose of the water. Just make sure you dispose of the waste water properly by dumping it down the drain. Don’t dump it directly on the ground unless you’re using non-toxic soaps, and are in an area that permits it (check with local regulations to be sure).

(I hadn’t lit my stove yet when I was shooting this video, so it was a bit cold in the studio that day. Hence the gloves in most of the scenes).
