In this wheat weaving tutorial, I’ll show you how to weave some cute little folk angels.

MATERIALS USED:
15 straws with heads
43 straws without heads
White thread
Scissors
Soaking basin and water

Angels are a very common sight among wheat weavings. And folk style angels are also very easy to weave.

If you’ve never woven with wheat before, you can check out the basics by clicking here. I used wheat for these particular angels, but they would also look lovely made of rye. (Rye is actually my favorite wheat weaving straw due to the nice, long stems).

While wheat weavings were traditionally made in the late summer and autumn months, due to the harvest, they can be made any time of year. These cute little folk angels could just as easily hang from your Christmas Tree for the winter holidays.

I left my angels plain, but if you wanted to finish them off with something a little fancy, tie a piece of brightly colored ribbon around the waist. It can represent the angel’s belt or sash.
