DIY Rustic Twig Garden Bench – How To Build A Handmade Bench

DIY Rustic Twig Garden Bench - How To Build A Handmade Bench

You can easily assemble this cute little DIY twig garden bench with a few branches and some weathered pallet wood.

MATERIALS USED:
Ash branches from a fallen tree
Pallet wood
Driver/drill
42 Screws
Circular saw

Had a big dead ash tree come down in my woods over the winter. And while most of that fallen ash will wind up being cut into appropriate wood stove sized chunks to keep me cozy and warm next winter, I used some of the thinner branches to make this little DIY twig bench. When life gives you fallen trees, make furniture! 😉

My mom used to have a pair of rustic twig benches in her garden that she loved, but years of being out in the weather eventually took its toll on them. And it had been quite a few years since they’d graced the garden having rotted away.

When I saw that fallen tree on my walk through the woods, I immediately knew I had to recreate one of those benches for Mom. Combined with some old pallet wood I had lying around, it made an adorable rustic garden bench.

While time consuming, the bench is pretty easy to make. It is sturdy enough to hold a person’s weight, but it’s not really meant to, so I don’t recommend it, as it will shorten the bench’s life. It’s meant to be a decorative garden bench, perfect for setting a flower pot or little garden statue on. Give it a try!
