How to Replace a Zipper Using a Regular Presser Foot

You can easily replace a zipper on a coat or other garment using an ordinary presser foot on a sewing machine.

I get a lot of people asking me if they need a special foot for their sewing machine to replace a zipper on a coat. While they do have a special zipper foot attachment, if you don’t have one, you can easily accomplish the same job with your sewing machine’s standard presser foot. You just have to watch a bit more carefully to make sure your seamlines stay straight and not too close to the zipper teeth.
