What if We Could see CO2?

Please Don't Paint Our Planet Pink - Gregg Kleiner If we could actually see CO2 coloring our planet, would we take better care of it?

I recently came across a very creative children’s book by Gregg Kleiner called Please Don’t Paint Our Planet Pink!: A Story for Children and their Adults. It’s a great way to really make people (children and adults alike) think about their daily carbon emissions.

In the story “Wilbur” is taught a valuable lesson about the environment when he learns to see CO2 as pink. He is able to visually see the pink CO2 coming from cars, chimneys, planes, and trains, all of which adds up in the atmosphere. With the ability to physically see CO2, Wilbur is able understand things like climate change and how to better take care of the planet.

I had to share it because this book just struck me as the ideal way to light the environmental torch in a young child. It’s a great way to open kids’ eyes to the importance of a clean environment. And hopefully the adults can take a few cues from it as well. It really does make you ask yourself, if we could see carbon, would it prompt us to emit less of it?

Get yourself a copy from Amazon or borrow it from your local library and read it with the little ones in your life.
