Thranduil Costume Part 1 – DIY Cheap and Easy Thranduil Crown

Had a request for a Thranduil costume tutorial, so this is the first part of the how-to, the Thranduil crown.

DIY Cheap and Easy Thranduil Crown

Like most of my cosplay tutorials, this Thranduil crown is not an exact replica, but a simplified, inexpensive way to make it. And because there is no plastic or clay used, it remains flexible even after it has been painted, so if your wig size changes, or a friend wants to wear it, it can easily be adjusted without worrying about cracking it.

The trick to making the paint look like real sticks is to use β€œmessy” painting. You’ll want to paint in layers, very lightly, so not all the areas are covered. It allows the different browns to show through and makes it look more like real sticks on the Thranduil crown.
