Scarecrow Costume – How to Make a Wizard of Oz Scarecrow Costume

Had a request for a Wizard of Oz scarecrow costume tutorial.

How to Make a Wizard of Oz Scarecrow Costume

MATERIALS NEEDED:
Brown pants
Green shirt
Raffia or straw
2 buttons
Scrap fabrics to use for the patches
Black felt
Robe or bailing twine
Scissors
Needle and thread or iron and stitch witchery
Got glue gun
Skin colored fabric
Brown paint for your nose
White gloves
“Scarecrow” boots.

This is a pretty easy costume to make out of some old 2nd hand clothes. I used bailed twine to tie the sleeves, neck, and waist of my scarecrow costume, but you could also use some of the fancier cording they sell in fabric stores if you prefer. Then just add a pair of gloves and some “scarecrow” looking boots and you’re good to go.

And no, the Jar Jar Binks most definitely does not belong to me. It was an alarm clock a relative (who had never seen The Phantom Menace at the time) got many years ago without realizing that they had just picked out the most irritating character in the galaxy…
