Bowtruckle – How To Make A Bowtruckle – Fantastic Beasts Picket

In this tutorial you’ll learn how to make an adorable little bowtruckle. It can be put together with just a little wire and some clay.

How To Make A Bowtruckle - Picket - Newt Scamander - Fantastic Beasts Harry Potter Universe Creatures

MATERIALS USED:
A few different gauges of wire
Scissors
Oven bake clay
Brown, yellow, and light green paint
Paintbrush
Glossy varnish

Picket was arguably one of the cutest creatures in all of Fantastic Beasts (and possible the only enjoyable part in those movies…), and this little clay version is almost as cute. You’ll keep waiting for him to actually start moving as you stare him.

The clay I used here is oven bake clay, which is easy to sculpt, but not always the strongest material. Which is why I added the wire. It keeps the clay from breaking so easily, and also makes your bowtruckle easy to shape before you bake it.

If you’re planning an entire Newt Scamander costume, you may want to skip the legs on your bowtruckle. Little Picket will fit better into a jacket pocket without legs.

However, if you’re just planning to have your bowtruckle displayed somewhere, remember, Picket has 3 legs.
