Daenerys Part 3 – DIY Dragon Eggs Cheap and Easy
In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make some cheap and easy DIY dragon eggs.
MATERIALS USED:
Eggs (plastic or cardboard eggs work best)
Hot glue gun
Scrap of craft foam or cardboard
Scissors
White school glue and foam brush
Metallic antique copper paint
Metallic paint in your chosen color (I used FolkArt sapphire blue)
I took a couple weeks off from making tutorials so I could get some stuff ready on the farm (yup, spring is here!). But now I’m back so here’s the egg tutorial to finish off the Dothraki Daenerys tutorial. (Because let’s face it, you can’t do a Dothraki Dany costume without dragon eggs, right?)
I used a few old styrofoam eggs that a friend was going to throw out, but you can also just use some plastic Easter eggs for these DIY dragon eggs. But you might want to go a size bigger. Mine were a little small, but they were free, and it was a good way to save them from a landfill. So it seemed logical to make do with what I had.
Since my eggs were smaller than Dany’s dragon eggs, I used scraps of craft foam to make the scales. However, if your base eggs are a little larger, you can also make the scales out of cardboard (which is even cheaper, and more eco-friendly too if it’s been pre-used. Bonus!)
Leave me a comment below and let me know what color combo you’re going to make your DIY dragon eggs.

Amazing! =D Thank you for this Daenerys costume tutorial! I thought it could also be done with scale of the pine cone!
(Probably, I will use dark green and black, dark purple and black, and gold).
Glad you enjoyed it π Yeah, pine cone scales would work very well for these. Good luck.
Thatβs so cool! Iβm going to have to make one like that! Iβm making a little animated movie for fun but Iβm going to start with videos and animate over it, and this is perfect for the dragon eggs! Probably going to use dark blue and black, dark purple and black, or dark green and black :} (oh that looks like a dragon face! Lol)
LOL, sounds like a lot of fun. Good luck π
