Darksaber Hilt DIY – Cheap and Easy Cardboard – Star Wars

This DIY darksaber hilt is a cheap and easy build. You can make it with or without the blade.

MATERIALS USED:
Hilt Template
Cardboard
Utility knife
Scissors
Hot glue gun
White school glue
Paintbrush
Metallic black paint
Reflective tape or holographic vinyl
Scrap paper
Pencil
2mm craft foam
5mm craft foam scrap
Straw (optional, for cutting circles out of foam)

I chose to make my darksaber without a blade so it would take up less storage space. But adding a blade to the hilt is easily done in the early stages of construction.

For the “glowing” lights on the side of the darksaber hilt, I used some holographic vinyl that I had leftover from my holographic Easter Garland and Adam Project lightsaber. However, you can also just use regular reflective tape as well.

If you choose make a blade for your lightsaber, you can make the edges of the blade “glow” in the same manner by running a strip of reflective tape or vinyl all the way around the edge of the blade. When the light catches it, it will appear to glow.
