Dr. McCoy Tunic – DIY “Bones” Medical Tunic

This is the tutorial for the short-sleeved, satin medical tunic that McCoy usually wore on board the Enterprise in Star Trek TOS.

DIY Dr. McCoy Tunic

I actually filmed this last year when my brother went as Bones, but I never posted it, thinking most people probably wouldn’t be interested. However I recently got a request for it, so posting it now.

The Bones tunic easy enough to make, but does require more sewing than the standard Star Trek uniforms. For instructions on how to make the Star Fleet badge, watch the standard Star Trek TOS uniform tutorial here if you missed it.

(Apologies for my head being in the way in a few scenes)

Are you selling the Dr McCoy short sleeve shirts? I have been looking for one for years at a reasonable price. I would definitely purchase one.

    • Hi Polly, I do sell them, but usually a little later in the year (spring and early summer are busy farm months for me, so I don’t have as much time to sew costumes). I sell them for $30. Drop me an email if you’d like me to put you on the list for one when I start costume making again in a couple months.
