Luke Skywalker Costume (x-wing pilot) Part 2: Orange Flight Suit

Here’s another part of the Luke Skywalker costume tutorial. My brother wore this last Halloween.

DIY Luke Skywalker Costume (x-wing pilot): Orange Flight Suit

This is the orange x-wing pilot flight suit part of the Luke Skywalker costume. Since this was for Halloween, I needed the Luke Skywalker costume to be warm for my brother. It’s not uncommon to have snow on Halloween where I’m from, so the under layer of this suit is warm, fuzzy felt and the outer layer is some cheap broadcloth that looks very similar to the fabric that Luke wore. If you’re wearing it during warmer weather, however, you can make the inner layer something thinner so you don’t sweat too much.

When you’re make the white tank top part, you’ll want to be sure your tank top is initially quite a bit longer than you need it so you have enough room to put in all the scrunches. The white 1/4 inch thick foam stuff I used I got from JoAnn Fabrics, they stock it over by the pellon.

The boots don’t show up in the final picture here, but for that, my brother had an old pair of cowboy boots that didn’t look bad with the costume, so he used those, making him literally a space cowboy.
