Winter Soldier Costume Part 3: DIY Winter Soldier Mask

This is an upgraded version of the original DIY Winter Soldier mask tutorial that I did.

MATERIALS USED:

Black mesh fabric
Hot glue gun
Black craft foam
Heat gun or other heat source
Black string
Scissors

So the first DIY Winter Solider mask I made was very hot and sticky, and not really pleasant to wear. Since I was wearing my Winter Solider costume at an event recently, I needed to upgrade it because I didn’t want to wear the first mask.

I used a nice, breathable fabric for this mask which makes it much cooler in temperature to wear. The fabric is far less hot and sticky than the plastic-y surface on the original DIY Winter Soldier mask I made.

Like the first mask I made, this version is not an exact replica, but a simplified, cheap and easy way of doing the Winter Soldier mask. It goes together pretty quick, and only requires a tiny bit of sewing.

Always wear a mask when heating foam, as the fumes aren’t good to breathe.

The mask is one of the easier parts of the Winter Soldier costume. If you’re new here and missed my other DIY Winter Soldier costume tutorials from several years back, you can check them out at the following links:

I also had a request at one point from someone to do a gender bent winter soldier costume. So if you’re interested in doing one of those, you can check that out here. It utilizes a lot of the same pieces I made for the male Winter Soldier costume, but it adds a few details to make it more feminine, like a skirt that attaches to the jacket.
