Essential Oils for Cleaning
If you’re looking for a natural way to clean house, try using some essential oils for cleaning.
Essential oils have so many great uses. They’re good for health, relaxation, cosmetics, and the non-poisonous oils can even be used in cooking. It’s also a wonderful experience using essential oils for cleaning. As a general rule to use essential oils for cleaning, add a teaspoon of essential oil to every 2 cups of water you use for cleaning. For some of the weaker oils, you may need to add a little more.
Lemon is one of the best essential oils for cleaning. It has natural antibacterial properties and the scent is not as overpowering as some of the other oils. Many conventional cleaning products utilize lemon for this very reason.
Tea Tree is another of the all purpose essential oils for cleaning. Like lemon it has antibacterial as well as antiseptic properties. Because of this, tea tree oil is a natural mold killer, making it perfect for scrubbing the mildew off the shower curtain.
Clove Oil is also another good oil choice if you’re looking to clean mold and mildew.
If in your cleaning you find you have a mice problem, mix some water and Peppermint Oil together and spray it wherever you think the mice are living. The scent of the peppermint oil will keep the mice away.
Lavender oil is one of my favorite oils is general. I refer to it as the all-purpose oil because, when in doubt, lavender can be probably be used for whatever ails ya. Besides being the all-purpose healing and relaxation oil, it repels insects and works as a disinfectant. This makes is another one of the excellent essential oils for cleaning…and did I mention the heavenly smell?
