Spock – How to do Spock Eyebrows
As promised here is the tutorial for how to do Spock eyebrows, to follow last week’s Star Trek Costume tutorial.
You can use any makeup brand, but I’m using E.L.F. makeup here (and no, it’s not because I’m partial to the name, it’s because the company is cruelty-free and the powder and eyeshadow were both paraben-free.) The three types of makeup I used were: the Translucent Mattifying Powder, the Complete Coverage Concealer, & the Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow. While this is not a perfect solution (the eyebrows are still slightly visible under the makeup), it sure beats shaving off your real eyebrows.
The glue was just a washable Elmer’s glue stick. The pointed ears and spirit gum (and spirit gum remover) I got from Aradani Costumes. The wig I’m using was just a cheap Halloween time wig, but it’s also available here at Amazon the rest of the year.
Sorry for the fuzziness of the video. I had to do it on my computer’s camera so I could see what I was doing while I was doing it and it’s not as sharp of a picture.
I’ll admit this is my first time ever applying makeup (I don’t wear it in real life), so I probably do it rather clumsily. But I found using a small-tipped brush works great for the actual drawing of the Spock eyebrows (the tiny brush that came with the concealer makeup seemed to be perfect size).
I also found I was completely incapable of applying the makeup and talking at the same time, hence my lips not moving, so just pretend it’s Vulcan telepathy 😉
