Kylo Ren Costume: How to Make a Kylo Ren Costume
I had quite a few requests for a Kylo Ren costume tutorial, so figured it was high time I got to making it.
I broke the Kylo Ren costume into two parts, the first being the tunic, robe, and belt; the 2nd part being the hooded scarf. Both tutorial videos are posted below.
I didn’t end up making the mask for the Kylo Ren costume, since I figured a Kylo Ren mask can probably be picked up pretty much anywhere these days.
When cutting the sides of the robe, you want to make sure the bottom gets wider. I didn’t make the bottom of mine wide enough, so you’ll see at the end it doesn’t drape quite the way it’s supposed to. To finish, you just add a pair of black leggings and some knee-high boots.
And since I don’t have a wig that matches Kylo Ren (or a Kylo lightsaber for that matter), I guess we’ll just say poor Ben got very depressed after the destruction of Starkiller Base and decided to dye his hair blond as part of the mental breakdown.
This is also my first time using a green screen, and I don’t really have the right lighting for it (hence the sparkling), but I was getting tired of just using my bedroom door for all the backgrounds…

Hi Amber,
I really like this Kylo Ren costume, later if I can I will try to make one.
Just something for me to do over the winter months. Because I live the country, I don’t get to the city much, so I like to do something around that season. But I sure like everything you make
Hey Doreen, glad you like it; it is a pretty simple one to make. Yeah, I’m like you, I live way out in the country and don’t go into town much either, only about twice a month during the winter; hermit season, lol. 😉
