How to Make a Skirt from an Old Pair of Jeans
You can upcycle an old pair of jeans into a fun denim skirt by adding a little bit of material. It’s a good way to use up old jeans that have holes in the knees, but where the top is still good.
I’m using some calico material leftover from a set of curtains in this tutorial, but the material can be pretty much anything. It needs to be long, but doesn’t have to be very wide, so it’s a good way to use up excess scrap material pieces as well as old jeans. You could even sew together multiple scraps for a colorful patchwork skirt bottom.
This jean skirt was inspired by the one Goldie Hawn wore in Overboard. It was a fairly classic 80’s look. I’ve also done them with solid colored fabric overlaid with lace, which gives the jean skirt a very elegant effect.
