Mandalorian Rifle DIY – (cardboard) Cheap Build – Star Wars Amban Pulse Rifle
This week I’ll show you how to make a cheap DIY Mandalorian rifle.
MATERIALS USED:
Rifle template (available free in my patterns vault)
Cardboard
Packing paper
Scrap paper
Pencil
Scissors
Utility knife
Hot Glue Gun
School glue
Paint brush
2 or 3mm craft foam
5 mm craft foam
Chrome silver paint
Black and brown paint
Metallic blue and purple paint
14 thumbtacks
4 metal photo corners
Scrapbooking brads
6 eye and hook loops, or some other random junk
This is almost entirely cardboard with a bit of craft foam and some paint, so it’s very budget friendly. And if the cardboard is recycled, it’ll be a fairly ecofriendly cosplay prop as well. I think the Mandalorian rifle is the biggest gun I’ve made to date, but it’s a whole lot of fun.
There are a lot of pieces to the DIY Mandalorian rifle, so it is time consuming, but there’s nothing too difficult about its construction. It’s just taking the time to assemble all the pieces. The painting is all achieved with some pretty easy techniques.
If you don’t want to draw the Mandalorian rifle pieces freehand, I do have a free pattern in my patterns vault you can use. I tend to build everything by eye, so I don’t know if it matches the exact dimensions of Din Djarin’s rifle. But if you think it’s off, you can make your adjustments accordingly.
If you want to make the Mandalorian blaster pistol as well, you can check out my previous tutorial for that here.
