Pirate Treasure Map How To

Every aspiring pirate needs a pirate treasure map, so this tutorial shows how to make exactly that.

Pirate Treasure Map How To

MATERIALS USED:
Brown packing paper (or white paper soaked in tea)
Matches
Scissors
Pencil
Black marker
Watered down brown paint
Paint brush

When burning the edges, be sure to keep a bowl of water nearby. If the fire gets away from you and starts burning too much of the paper, just dunk it into the bowl of water to quell the flames. (If you’re not an adult, ask an adult to do the edge burning part for safety).

The pirate treasure map is a great project to do with kids. It’s cheap and easy to make, and can also be used to recycle some old packing paper.

Aside from being used a costume accessory, a pirate treasure map also makes a great activity to include at birthday parties.

Create a treasure map that leads all around the backyard or the house, and let the birthday guests follow it to the “treasure.” The treasure can be a goodie bag with treats or other such things appropriate for the age of the guests.
