Thena – Cheap & Easy DIY Thena Spear Axe, Golden Weapon

Thena - Cheap & Easy DIY Thena Spear Axe, Golden Weapon

In this week’s tutorial, I’ll show you how to turn an old cake container into a cheap and easy DIY Thena spear.

MATERIALS USED:
Thena costume patterns (available free in my patterns vault)
Template
Plastic cake top, or some other type of stiff, clear plastic
Tape
Gold puffy paint
2 Cardboard tubes
Metallic gold paint
Scissors
Multi surface glue
Utility knife
Old cereal bag or other kind of stuffing

This is a lot of fun, because you get to achieve the look of “magic” with very little effort. I used this same technique for my Doctor Strange magic circles, as well as a hologram for my Ben 10 Omnitrix.

You don’t need fancy tools or knowledge of electric wiring to make this. Most of the materials (old cake container, and wrapping paper tubes) can be gotten for free if you remember to save them when they become available.

I wasn’t able to find a clear tube to use for my spear shaft, so I painted my tubes solid gold instead, which still seemed to match the costume. But if you should happen to find a clear tube, you can match it to the spear by covering it with long, gold swirling lines of puffy paint.
