This is a slightly different kind of video than I usually post, but still a how-to of sorts. And it has nothing to do with Poison Ivy the character 😊 This is about poison ivy the plant.

If you’ve ever had poison ivy, then you know how NOT much fun it is. When I was about 10, I rubbed up against some on a very hot day, so it followed the sweat trails on my body, and I ended up with full body poison ivy.

My feet were so swollen that I couldn’t even wear shoes for a week. It was a very miserable experience. But fortunately I’ve gotten better at identifying poison ivy since then. I can now identify it in a split second; long before I ever get close enough to touch it.

What Does Poison Ivy Look Like?

While there are a lot of 3-leafed plants in the woods, poison ivy has some unique features that allow you to identify it from other plants. In this week’s video, I’ll show you how to use that identification to your advantage so you can avoid future cases of poison ivy.

Most importantly remember, if in doubt, just don’t touch it. And if you do end up having contact with any possible poison ivy plants, take a shower as soon as possible to wash off the residue before it takes hold.

Weird poison ivy fact: it’s kind of contagious! If someone has a fresh case of poison ivy, you can actually get it if you touch their rash. That’s how potent the stuff is!
