Scarlet Witch – DIY Scarlet Witch Costume (Civil War/Infinity War Version)
In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a fairly easy DIY Scarlet Witch costume, based on the one Wanda wore in Civil War and Infinity War (since they were pretty close to the same costume).
MATERIALS USED:
A fake leather jacket (you can usually find them for $10-$15 in a Salvation Army)
Scissors
1 yard of fake leather (found in JoAnn Fabrics)
Dark Red Paint
Dark Brown Paint
A red shirt
Shirt tighener clip
1 yard of red yarn or cording (you may need more depending on your height)
10 large snaps (optional; if you want the bottom of the jacket to be removable)
Needle and thread
Necklace
Black boots
Black leggings
Old pair of gloves
Black paint
1 foot of red tulle
The jacket I used for my DIY Scarlet Witch costume is actually my Star Lord jacket, so I just used snaps to attach the bottom piece of fabric to it. That I way I can interchange it for both costumes, and it’s also a great space saver, since I get 2 costumes for the space of one. But if you’re only doing Scarlet Witch, you can just sew the bottom piece of fabric to the jacket to make it more secure. You can usually find one of those imitation leather jackets for $10-15 at a local second hand shop like the Salvation Army. The boots and red shirt I used for this also came from the Salvation Army for a couple bucks.
The necklace was just a piece of costume jewelry my siblings and I used the play with when we were little, that I still had hanging around. I can’t tell if Wanda’s necklace was a leaf or a heart, so I figured this one was pretty close. The black leggings were just a pair I already had, but you can also probably pick them up for a couple buck in a Salvation Army.
Wanda had brown hair earlier on, and then it was red in Infinity War, so you can pretty much do either one. I chose to go with the brown wig because red hair just does not look very natural on me, and therefore not very convincing. The brown works a lot better. It’s the same wig I use for Leia, Wonder Woman, and my Star Trek skant costume, so it gets a lot of use.
