Cheap and Easy DIY Picture Frame (Double-sided)

In this video I’ll show you how make a cheap and easy DIY picture frame. You probably already have everything you need to make to this frame.

Cheap and Easy DIY Picture Frame (Double-sided)

MATERIALS USED:
Poster you want to frame
Cardboard bigger than your poster
Utility knife
Straight Edge
Scissors
Scrap fabric the same height as your poster
Hot glue gun
Masking tape to attached poster to cardboard
Strong glue that doesn’t dry as fast as hot glue (I used Power-tac)
Piece of yarn or string to use as hanger

Posters by nature are not very neat-looking. However, putting them in a picture frame just gives them a sharper, more organized appearance. The problem is, poster frames can sometimes be a bit pricey. So I decided to make a DIY picture frame out of scrap materials.

All the fabric I used here was left over from other projects. It’s a great way to use up excess fabric. I chose to use plain colors, but you could go really crazy if you prefer and do a really bright texture for your picture frame.

This is basically comprised of cardboard, but the fabric makes it look fancier than just plain cardboard. And another benefit of using a cardboard picture frame is that it’s nice and lightweight. That means if you’re limited on space, like me, you can make a double-sided frame. You’ll have two pictures for the space of one, and can periodically flip it over to alternate your decor.

There is no glass in this DIY picture frame. (So bonus, if you drop it, you don’t have to worry about it breaking). Some may see that as a downside, but I generally don’t like the glass glare anyway. I frequently remove the glass from “regular” picture frames to cut down on the glare, so this worked out perfectly for me. However, if you feel a frame just isn’t complete without glass, you could always slip in a piece of clear vinyl.

As an alternative to scrap fabric for the boarder, you could also use duct tape. There are many printed varieties including wood grain duct tape that would make a perfect DIY picture frame.
