How to Turn a Lampshade Into a Hanging Lamp

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to turn a plain old lampshade into an easy hanging lamp. My lampshade was white, so I did the dusty black horse design with the chalk ink, but you could also opt for something more colorful if you prefer.

How to Turn a Lampshade Into a Hanging Lamp

MATERIALS USED:
Plain Lampshade
Black chalk Ink Pad
Rubber Stamps (I used the 2004 Bareback set from Stampin’ Up)
A small, hard surface
Bottle lamp kit
Flathead screwdriver (some also take Philips)
Glue that will bond metal (Power-tac)

My mom had a lamp with a shattered base that couldn’t be repaired. So I saved the lampshade and decided to turn it into a hanging lamp. This is really easy to do, and if you don’t have an extra lampshade, you can usually find them for a couple bucks at a second hand shop.

This does require a little bit of electric wiring. If you are comfortable DIY-ing this, you can use a bottle lamp kit. But if you’re not comfortable with wiring, then have someone who’s done this before give you a hand.

Just MAKE SURE that you read the directions on your bottle lamp kit very well. The two wires go on different sides and you want to make sure you get the right wire on the right screw or it won’t work.
