Cal Kestis Lightsaber DIY – Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a DIY Cal Kestis lightsaber from some cardboard tubes and other bits of junk you probably already have lying around your house.
MATERIALS USED:
2 cardboard tubes (one slightly bigger than the other)
Used puffy paint bottle or something similar that will fit inside your tube
Bunch of junk (hook and loop closures, wire, old cords, random beads and buttons)
Stray pieces of copper wire
Silver adhesive foil
Black plastic canvas (found in JoAnn Fabrics)
2mm or 3mm craft foam
Cardstock scraps
Small tube (I used an old ribbon spool)
Metallic silver paint
Black Metallic paint
Metallic copper paint
Metallic silver puffy paint
Paint brush
Hot glue gun
Glue that will bond metal (Power-tac)
Utility knife
Scissors
Pen
X-acto knife
The benefit of this lightsaber is that it doesn’t have to be perfect when you make it, because it’s supposed to look damaged. Splayed wires, melted plastic, and other bits of junk painted silver just add to the appearance.
Normally I give cardboard a couple layers of white school glue before I paint it, but in this case, it’s unnecessary. The cardboard will be covered by the plastic mesh, so the paint is just for under coloring, rather than to provide a finished look.
I used the same silver foil I used for most of my lightsabers on this. However, you can also use tinfoil if you prefer. You just need to be more careful with it, as tinfoil wrinkles more easily.
