Aayla Secura Costume How To – Shirt and Pants – Star Wars Twi’lek Jedi
This week’s tutorial is an Aayla Secura costume how to that can be made with a little distressed fabric and some second hand clothes.
MATERIALS USED:
Long sleeved brown shirt
2 shades of distressed or faux leather fabric
1 snap
Brown pants
Brown boots
Craft foam or stiff interfacing
Measuring tape
Sewing pins
Scissors
Needle and thead or sewing machine
Multi-surface glue
The Aayla Secura costume does require a bit of sewing, but most of it is pretty basic. In a pinch you could just glue everything together, though it will be stronger if you sew it.
Part of this costume came from other costumes, because I always believe in reusing costume pieces to save money whenever possible. The belt was from my Jedi costume. And the boots were from my Anakin costume. And both were originally picked up for a few bucks in a second hand shop.
The distressed fabrics I found in the clearance section at JoAnn’s, so I don’t know if they will ever have more of these particular fabrics. However, I have seen other fake leather fabrics in stock that would work. So that’s a good place to start your search.
The base shirt and the pants I picked up for a couple bucks in a second hand shop. Since so much of the shirt will be cut away, it doesn’t matter what type of collar it starts with.
If you missed the Twi’lek lekku tutorial (the headpiece) from a few weeks ago, you can check that out here. And if you need to make Aayla’s lightsaber, I have a tutorial for that as well, which you can check out here.
May the force be with you!
