Andorian Antennae and Homemade Body Paint – Star Trek DIY

This is a tutorial for a Star Trek Andorian antennae set and homemade body paint.

DIY Star Trek Andorian Antennae and Homemade Body Paint

MATERIALS USED:
For Antenna:
Oven bake clay
Toothpick
Light blue paint (Blue Danube)
Maroon paint for antenna interior (Metallic Garnet Red)
Red paint for interior lines (Country Red)
Paintbrush
Needle and thread
White wig
Blue lipstick
Blue eyeshadow

Homemade blue body paint ingredients:
Any type of white lotion
Blue food coloring
Arrowroot powder (no specific amount, just enough until you’re happy with your paint consistency)
Stirring stick and container
Paintbrush or makeup brush

The antennae are just made from modeling clay and then painted. And the bodypaint is homemade, but you can use something premade if you prefer. My battery died when I was filming this, so I don’t have any live shots of my face fully made up (I didn’t want to put all that gunk back on again after I realized the battery was dead, so all I have is a selfie I took).

For the lips, you’ll want to use blue lipstick, since even homemade body paint shouldn’t be on your lips. And don’t put the body paint too close to your eyes either. Use some type of approved eyeshadow to be safe. Also, test your wig ahead of time. I didn’t paint my forehead up high enough so you can still see my forehead under the wig.

If you use commercial bodypaint, follow their instructions for removing it. If you make homemade body paint like I did here, then soap and water will take it off pretty well. The final picture you see here is after several coats of bodypaint. You’ll have to layer it on if you want even coverage.
