Baylan Skoll DIY Lightsaber Hilt from Star Wars Ahsoka – Cheap & Easy

Baylan Skoll DIY Lightsaber Hilt from Star Wars Ahsoka - Cheap & Easy

A cardboard tube embellished with a little craft foam and silver foil is all you need to create a fairly convincing DIY Baylan Skoll lightsaber.

MATERIALS USED:
Cardboard tube
Black paint
Paint brush
Black 2mm craft foam
Silver adhesive foil
Cardstock
Silver puffy paint
Gold puffy paint
Scraps of black and red paper
Scissors
Utility knife
Glue that will stick to metal (Power-tac)
Ruler

This one is based on the Baylan saber from the Ahsoka series. It’s a very easy one to assemble as it doesn’t have the details and frill of some of the other lightsabers. That makes it a perfect one to make no matter your skill level.

Being a fan favorite, I had several requests from people to do a tutorial for Baylan Skoll’s lightsaber. I think everyone likes the Baylan character because his character has a lot of complexity. Even though he uses the dark side, he still has his morals, which makes him interesting to watch.

The cardboard tube I used was an old wrapping paper roll, but you can find such tubes in many household items. Paper towel rolls, outdoor weed barrier, parchment paper rolls, and aluminum foil just to name a few.

If you find your cardboard tube is too flimsy, you can reinforce it by stuffing another tube inside it. If the second one doesn’t fit inside, slit the side of it and fold it around itself until the diameter is small enough to fit inside the other one. The folded inner tube will still strengthen the outer tube.

So whether you’re a seasoned Jedi knight or just dipping your toes into the world of lightsaber creations, give this one a try, and get ready to unleash the Power of the Dark Side!
