Cloud’s Buster Sword DIY – Cardboard – Final Fantasy How To

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make Cloud’s Buster Sword out of cardboard. Bonus points if you use leftover scrap cardboard, because it will make your prop eco-friendly as well.

MATERIALS USED:
Cloud’s Buster Sword Details Template (available free in my patterns vault here)
Cardboard
Cardboard tube
Scissors
Utility knife
Pencil
2 green gems, 2 blue gems
Hot glue gun
Craft foam
White school glue and foam brush
Metallic silver paint
Metallic Gunmetal Gray paint
Paint brushes
Studs or paper fasteners
Multi surface glue (Power-tac)
Distressed brown fabric for handle

Because this sword is so big, it can have trouble supporting its own weight. As such, you’ll need to layer cardboard to give it extra strength.

I ended up just using a strong cardboard tube as the hilt of my sword. However, if you want to make it stronger, you could use a longer tube that runs up the center of the blade. If you do that, just be sure to stack enough cardboard around it to hide the tube.

This is pretty easy to make. The only tricky part might be the details on the base of the blade. But I did make a template for those (listed above in the patterns vault).
