Darth Vader Lightsaber DIY Cheap and Easy

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a cheap and easy Darth Vader lightsaber hilt. This is based on the one seen in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Darth Vader Lightsaber DIY Cheap and Easy

MATERIALS USED:
Silver adhesive foil
Scissors
Black craft foam
PVC pipe or cardboard roll
Bottle cap
Glue that will bond metal (Power-tac)
Hot glue gun
Stick on sequins
Small snap
Metallic silver paint and brush
Random beads/buttons
Cardboard scraps
D-ring (or I used keyring)

Most of my lightsabers are made of cardboard, but on the Darth Vader lightsaber, I used a piece of pvc pipe as my base. I’d had a small piece of the pipe left over from making my sink (and of course I save everything for later use in cosplay πŸ˜‰ ). It was too small to be of much use for anything else, so I figured it’d make a nice strong base the Darth Vader lightsaber. However, you don’t need pvc, you can just use a cardboard wrapping paper (or similar) roll.

This lightsaber hilt is very similar in design to the “Skywalker” lightsaber that Anakin had, abeit with more black and less silver. It seems to show that Vader still couldn’t quite let go of his Anakin past. Anakin was definitely still in there somewhere.
