DIY Dark Sorceress Costume – Cosplay Tutorial
In this week’s tutorial, I’ll show you how to turn a second hand shirt into a DIY dark sorceress costume. It’s easy and inexpensive to make, and a whole lot of fun to swirl around in.
MATERIALS USED:
Dark green long sleeved shirt
Silver eyelets
1/12 yards of green crushed velvet
2 yards of Black lacing cord
3 ft. Black fringe
3.5 yards of black crushed velvet
Black feathers
Silver puffy paint
Eyelet pliers or hammer and eyelet tool
Scissors
Hook and loop closure
Needle and thread or sewing machine
Not sure if I called this a dark sorceress costume because the sorceress character may have been dabbling in dark magic, or just because the colors are dark, but either way, the name seemed to fit the feeling of this particular sorceress costume.
This is a pretty simple costume to DIY. The base shirt I got from the second hand shop for $1. And the skirt, cape, and belt were just crushed velvet. (Because crushed velvet is the most magical of all fabrics, and you’ll never convince me otherwise π)
While I used dark greens and blacks for my sorceress costume, you can always swap the colors out. Maybe you’re feeling a little more purple, or you want a black and red combination. Do what feels right to you, your sorceress costume can be whatever you want it to be!
The costume does require a little basic sewing, but it’s pretty simple, nothing fancy. You shouldn’t require any magic powers to accomplish it. I used a sewing machine, but a needle and thread will work just as well.
