DIY Halter Top (Can be altered for Caitlin, Belly Dancer, or Gumi)

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a simple DIY halter top.

DIY Halter TopI had requests for several different halter top-wearing characters, so rather than make three different halter tops, I figured I’d do a tutorial for one basic halter top that could then be altered to fit any of the requested characters.

MATERIALS USED:
Halter top pattern
2 feet of fabric (it should be slightly stretchy)
Scissors
11 feet of bias tape (You may need more or less depending on your size)
Sewing machine or needle and thread

I made my halter top out of some green peacock material that I fell in love with in the fabric store, but you can use whatever is closer to your character. So if you’re doing Caitlin, use some type of distressed fabric to mimic her leather, and punch a few holes along the sides and insert gold paper fasteners. For a belly dancer, you could add some fringe along the bottom. And for Gumi you could add a collar onto the V part of the halter top.

And if you’re not into cosplay, a halter top is also great to just wear on those 100-degree and humid days like we had up here a couple weeks ago.
