DIY Pokeball

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a DIY Pokeball.

DIY Pokeball

MATERIALS USED:
Gourd or plastic ball
Wonderflex pro / craft foam / or a slightly bigger ball
White, red, black paint
Craft foam or cardboard scraps
Heat gun or oven
Glue

A DIY pokeball is one of the simplest props you can make. Aside from paint drying time, everything goes together super fast.

I used a gourd for my base, because I grow them, so I have lots of them. But you can also just use a plastic ball instead. For the covering layer, I used Wonderflex pro, because it’s nice and flexible. But you can also use craft foam if you want a cheaper alternative. You use it very similarly by heating it up and stretching it over the plastic ball. A 3rd option would be to just get another ball and put it over the base ball.

I heated the Wonderflex for my DIY pokeball in my solar oven. It ended up being hotter than I thought, so I ended up accidentally wrinkling the Wonderflex when I was putting it over my gourd. If you use an oven, take your Wonderflex out before it gets too soft or you’ll end up with the same problem I did. As an alternative, you could also just use a heat gun to form the Wonderflex directly around your Pokeball base.
