How to Make a Witch Hat

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a witch hat, just perfect for a Halloween costume. It’s fairly simple to make and is a perfect base hat for your own creative touches.

How to Make a Witch Hat

MATERIALS USED:
Poster board
Black fabric (or printed if you prefer)
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Bias tape or ribbon in your chosen color

While store-bought witch hats are easily found time of year, making your own allows you to have a little fun in your choice of “witchy decor” when adding the finishing touches. You can choose to use printed fabrics such as leaves, spider webs, or moon and star fabrics, instead of plain black or wrap the brim and cone in colorful ribbon.

This method also allows you make a witch hat in any size. So you can make one in your own size to allow you to course the skies in style on Halloween night. Or you can use the same method to construct a smaller one if you have an aspiring little spellcaster in the family.

And if you need a few additional touches to go with your witch hat, check out some of my earlier tutorials. You could make a witch’s broom, an ancient looking spellbook, and maybe a few magic wands. Then just add a simple black dress, and you’re ready for a night of conjuring!
