How To Use Hay Hooks
Learning how to use hay hooks is a very valuable skill if you live on a farm or have a summer job stacking hay.
Hay hooks make the task of stacking hay or straw much easier. Hay hooks eliminate the need to try and force your fingers under the tight wires or strings holding the bales. Instead you can use your hay hooks to quickly grab a bale from both sides making it easier to lift evenly and carry.
Hay hooks also give you the added benefit of adding a few extra inches of length to your arms which I’ve found makes it easier to stack the bales. And hay hooks decrease single arm fatigue, because with hay hooks, you lift the same amount of weight with each arm, as opposed to going under the wires where your arms are staggered.
My hay hooks originally belonged to my grandfather, so they have sentimental value, and I get to think about “Poppy” every time I pick up a bale with them π
