Kanan Jarrus Lightsaber DIY (Caleb Dume) – Star Wars Rebels – Cheap & Easy Cardboard
In this week’s tutorial, I’ll show you how a little cardboard and craft foam can be turned into a cheap and easy Kanan Jarrus lightsaber DIY.
MATERIALS USED:
Kanan Jarrus Lightsaber Template (available free in my patterns vault)
Cardboard tube (11 inches long)
2mm craft foam
5mm craft foam scrap
Silver adhesive foil
Black electrical tape, or black paint
Cardboard
Cardstock scraps
2 silver scrapbooking brads
Multi surface glue
Utility knife
Scissors (optionally use duct tape scissors for easier cutting of sticky foil)
Awl
Very thin gold beads
Small circular beads
Straw for drilling holes in foam (optional)
Small red and green plastic gems (or something similar)
As I did the Ezra Bridger lightsaber from Star Wars Rebels a couple weeks ago, I decided it would be fitting to follow it with the Kanan Jarrus lightsaber, since I’d had several requests for that saber as well.
The Kanan Jarrus lightsaber is a pretty easy one to DIY since there aren’t many small details on it. It goes together fairly quickly.
Most of the piece shapes are pretty easy to cut out as well. The two slightly odd shapes are included in the template above. You just may have to adjust their size depending on the length and diameter of your cardboard tube. (The diameter of mine was about an inch and a half).
I chose to skip the D-ring on the end of the saber, but you can easily make one by gluing an extra piece of craft foam onto the end of the saber, right over a D-ring to secure it.

Can I please have some templates for the Darth Vader lightsaber from sonny
I haven’t made templates for the Darth Vader saber yet, since most of the pieces are pretty easy to cut freehand. But I might make some templates for it at some point, as someone else asked too. I’ll let you know when I get them made.
