Kyle Katarn Lightsaber – Star Wars DIY

Grab your cardboard tubes, because in this tutorial I’ll be showing you how to make the Kyle Katarn lightsaber.

Kyle Katarn Lightsaber - Star Wars DIY

MATERIALS USED:
1 cardboard tube
Various bottle caps or similar items in varying shapes and sizes
Stray bits of wire
Silver adhesive foil
2 or 3mm craft foam
5mm craft foam
2 red beads
Cardstock scraps
Glue that will bond metal (Power-tac)
Utility knife
Scissors
Metallic silver paint (Silver Anniversary)
Black Metallic paint
Paint brush

You have been saving all your old cardboard tubes right? They can be old tubes from wrapping paper, paper towels, baking paper, aluminum foil, etc.

I actually don’t use paper towels or wrapping paper that often, but my friends and relatives save me all theirs. So I always have a healthy supply of potential future lightsabers πŸ˜‰

The great thing about upcycling cardboard tubes into lightsabers is that it’s a better way of recycling. Traditional recycling still requires energy to complete the process. Upcycling is direct recycling, no energy needed.

So in this Kyle Katarn lightsaber tutorial we’ll be upcycling some of those lovely pieces of cardboard, that would otherwise be headed for the transfer station. You’ll also need some various bottle caps, beads, and scraps of craft foam.

I also use the same silver adhesive foil I use on most of my lightsabers as I find it convenient. But you can also just glue on aluminum foil, or use silver paint.
