Mace Windu Lightsaber Tutorial – Cheap and Easy Cardboard Star Wars DIY

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a DIY Mace Windu lightsaber out of mostly cardboard.

Mace Windu Lightsaber Tutorial - Cheap and Easy Cardboard Star Wars DIY

MATERIALS USED:
Small cardboard roll
Wrapping paper roll
2 or 3 mmm craft foam
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Silver adhesive foil
Gold adhesive foil
Silver paint
Black paint
Paint brush
Black duct tape
Scraps of 5mm craft foam
3 flat plastic beads

I used gold and silver adhesive foil on my Windu lightsaber, but you can also substitute tinfoil or metallic paints instead if you don’t have foil. I made a few alterations to simplify it, but you can always add the missing details back in on yours if you want to be more true to the original Mace Windu lightsaber.

Of course the coolest part about Windu’s lightsaber is that it was the first one to be a different color other than blue, green, or red. Because when asked whether he wanted his lightsaber to be blue or green, Samuel L. Jackson said he wanted a purple one. And so he was given a purple lightsaber and it started the expansion that led to plethora of lightsaber colors we have today. Awesome!

May the force be with you.
