Wheat Weaving Tutorial: Wheat Heart Wreath

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to weave a simple wheat heart wreath.

Wheat Weaving Tutorial: Wheat Heart Wreath

MATERIALS USED:
40 straws with heads
White thread
Scissors
Soaking dish
Ribbon

The basic plait for this wheat heart wreath is called the Welsh Fan, though in this case it’s only half a Welsh Fan. Straws are only added to one side of the weaving. This makes it easy to bend into a half heart shape. So when two of the plaits meet, they form a charming heart.

Adding a bit of ribbon at the top where the two large ends of the heart meet gives it a cute finishing touch. This wreath would look great as a country door embellishment or as a Valentine decoration.
