Wookie Lightsaber How To

This week’s video is a cheap and easy wookie lightsaber how to. In this particular video, the wookie whose lightsaber we’ll be recreating is Gunji.

Wookie Lightsaber How To

MATERIALS USED:
Wookie Saber Template (available free in my patterns vault)
Cardboard tube
Smaller cardboard tube
2mm craft foam
Metallic silver paint (Silver Anniversary)
Black Metallic paint
Dark Brown paint
Paint brush
Mini scrapbooking brad
Paper fasteners
Scissors
Hot glue gun

Gunji’s wookie lightsaber is made from wood. But since real wood would be difficult to make a lightsaber out of, we’ll be faking it with a cardboard tube and a little craft foam.

The wood and metal appearance on the different areas of the lightsaber can be easily achieved with a little creative painting. And it’s easy enough that no art talent is required. In fact, the messier is it, the more realistic it will look.

The details are finished off with a few paper fasteners, so the supplies for this are very easy to come by. And since there are so few pieces, this wookie lightsaber how to is simple to follow.

Good luck, and may the force be with you. If you’re interested in furthering your lightsaber making skills, click here to check out more of my lightsaber (and other Star Wars) tutorials.
