This week’s video is a Magneto helmet tutorial, based on the X-men First Class version to follow the First Class Magneto costume from a couple weeks ago.

MATERIALS USED:
Magneto helmet template (available free in my patterns vault)
Cardstock/thin cardboard
Scissors
Hot glue gun
White school glue
Black Metallic paint
Metallic silver paint
Paintbrush

Foam is usually a better helmet material due to its flexibility, but in this tutorial I’ll be making the Magneto helmet out of cardboard. In the past when I’ve done helmets out of foam, I get requests to do them out of cardboard instead, so that’s what I’ve done here.

It wouldn’t take much to alter it to make it out of foam, however, if you want a slightly better looking, though slightly more time consuming helmet. I do have a template for it in my patterns vault if you don’t want to have to draw it freehand, and I also show the foam Magneto helmet my brother made just to include it for the contrast.

And as several people mentioned in the last video, yes Brett looks a lot like my brother with the long hair and beard and is easily mistaken for him 😉
