In this week’s tutorial I’ll show you how to make a Cat Noir costume from the Miraculous Ladybug cartoon. You can easily DIY this with a little craft foam and some second hand clothes.

MATERIALS USED:
Cat Noir Mask and Ears template (available free in my patterns vault)
Black fake leather jacket
Black leggings
Gloves – black
Black boots
Large gold jingle bell or gold Christmas ball
2 thin black belts
Black 2mm craft foam
Stretchy cord
4 bobby pins
Yellow wig (mine was white)
Needle and thread
Scissors
Pencil

Most of the base clothes for this were items I either already owned, or picked up cheaply in a second hand shop. The “leather” jacket was actually fake leather, so I was able to grab it for under $10. And the gloves and belts came from the second hand shop as well for a couple bucks.

The jacket I used for this was actually a child’s jacket. Cat Noir has a very streamlined appearance, so I purposely chose a jacket that a was a couple sizes too small to give it that tight look. However, it also makes it difficult to get into. So it’s one of those costumes that requires choosing between comfort and visual accuracy.

The boots and leggings I already owned. The leggings being the same ones I wear with my Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and Ahsoka costumes. And the boots are just my every day farm boots. But they seemed to match perfectly.

Cat Noir White Wig Version

Cat’s hair is actually yellow, and I do have a yellow wig, but I couldn’t find it when I was shooting this. (In the process of reorganizing stuff, and everything gets lost when I do that, haha). So I ended up just using a white wig I had in the same style. As an added benefit, it’s also a wig that tends to make me look more like a guy, so it’s perfect for cosplaying a male character like Cat. Though I did tone it yellow for a couple of the pics.

Since I still have all my Christmas decor out (as evidenced by the intro of this tutorial 😉 ), I used a gold Christmas ball as Cat’s collar bell. The Christmas ball was something I already had, so it was free. And also I was pretty sure a real jingle bell would drive me nuts ringing all the time 😉 However, if you prefer a real bell, they sell large bells like that in most general craft stores.
