Count Dooku Lightsaber DIY – Cheap and Easy Cardboard

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a Count Dooku Lightsaber.

Count Dooku Lightsaber DIY - Cheap and Easy Cardboard

MATERIALS USED:
Cardboard tube
Utility knife or scissors
Hot glue gun
Plastic cap
Chrome silver paint
Silver adhesive foil
Cardboard scraps
3mm black craft foam
Scrap of Gold adhesive foil
Glue that will bond metal (Power-tac)
2 distressed studs or gold paper fasteners
5mm craft foam scraps
Black and red paint
Paint brush
Electrical tape
Metallic silver puffy paint

This is a fun lightsaber to DIY because of the shape. The Count Dooku lightsaber was one of the more unique lightsabers due to the curved hilt. You only see a few of these in the Star Wars universe, and I think it was the only curved hilt to appear in any of the movies. I’ll show you how to construct this one cheaply out of mostly cardboard.

Per usual I used my silver adhesive foil, but you can also just use metallic silver paint if you want. It just won’t be quite as shiny. The distressed studs I used were just some I had left over from my Star Lord jacket, but paper fasteners would work equally well there. And for the black lines, I used electrical tape, so they’d be precise. But you can just paint on the black lines if you prefer.
