Luke’s Return of the Jedi Lightsaber – How to, Cheap & Easy DIY Cardboard

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make Luke’s Return of the Jedi Lightsaber. It can be very easily recreated with a little cardboard, craft foam, and silver foil.

Luke's Return of the Jedi Lightsaber - How to, Cheap & Easy DIY Cardboard

MATERIALS USED:
Cardboard tube (mine was a leftover parchment paper tube)
2mm or 3mm craft foam scraps
Scraps of 5mm craft foam
Scissors
Silver adhesive foil
Hot glue gun and/or glue that will stick to metal (Power-tac)
Paint brush
Black, Bronze, Green and Red paint
Cardstock scraps
Thick wire or D ring

Luke’s Return of the Jedi lightsaber is very similar in construction to Obi-Wan Kenobi’s. Of course we all know that’s not just a coincidence. Given the influence Obi-Wan had on Luke’s Jedi life, it only makes sense that Luke would pay homage to his late teacher when he constructed his new lightsaber.

I used silver adhesive on Luke’s Return of the Jedi lightsaber, as I do on most of my lightsaber builds, because of its convenience, but you can also just glue on aluminum foil if you prefer. Or you could use silver paint as well. However, if you choose paint, be sure to give all the cardboard and craft foam a few coats of white school glue to ensure the paint looks smooth on it.

May the force be with you.
