Darth Revan Lightsaber DIY – Cheap and Easy Cardboard – Star Wars
This Darth Revan lightsaber DIY is cheap and easy to make with a cardboard tube and some silver foil.
MATERIALS USED:
Cardboard tube cut to 10.5 inches (26.67 centimeters)
Darth Revan Lightsaber template (available free in my patterns vault)
Silver adhesive foil or aluminum foil
2 or 3mm craft foam
Two plastic cylinder shaped beads
Two flat plastic beads of differing sizes (or cut shapes from foam)
Two small, round beads that will fit in the holes of the flat ones
Black electrical tape
Black Metallic paint
Paint brush
Glue that will stick to metal (Power-tac)
Ruler
Pencil
Utility knife
Scissors
Old cardboard tubes are easily found and saved from things like wrapping paper, paper towels, and baking paper. Save all your old tubes and you’ll always be lightsaber-ready when the time comes.
The silver foil I used on the Darth Revan lightsaber is the same stuff I’ve used for most of my other lightsabers. It’s the stuff that goes in the Cricut and other such machines.
I like the foil because it has an adhesive backing which makes it convenient, but you can also use tinfoil and glue it on for a cheaper alternative. However, one drawback of tinfoil is that it crinkles and creases very easily. The silver adhesive foil doesn’t as much.
This is the Darth Revan lightsaber with the “fins” on it. They’re not too hard to draw freehand, but if you want a template, there is a free one in my patterns vault, listed above.
